The Hyster-Yale IT team even considered creating a tool themselves before its Evoke consultant proposed a solution that was a lot simpler , easier to manage and could be managed by a third-party partner as a service . They decided to move its Engineering Change Order process to the Bonita open-source process automation platform . The Evoke / Hyster-Yale team used the low-code tools and flexible integration environment to develop and release the Change Order process in four months from start to finish .
Today , with the Bonita platform in place , it has the capability to create complete , new applications within eight to 10 weeks .
The overall development effort is reduced by 50 % using these low code , open tools . Further , they have been able to reduce their software and maintenance costs compared to what they were spending on their initial , big-name , proprietary BPM solution .
With the implementation of Bonita the need to manually monitor and manage failed tasks went away overnight .

Gidu Sriram is Director of IT Integration and Global Product Development Systems at Hyster- Yale Group , where he has worked in Information systems since 1985 . Gidu also manages the Order Management Systems Group and the legacy systems at the Americas Parts Depot . He is a graduate of Portland State University ( Oregon ) and Indian Institute of Technology ( Bombay ).
Today , Hyster-Yale is efficiently processing 600 – 700 engineering changes a month . It has now fully automated two additional processes and is continuing the automation push across the company .
The open-source digital process automation platform replacement gave Hyster-Yale just the lift this innovative manufacturer needed .
