HP deepens investment in HBCU Business Challenge

HP has announced the launch of its annual

Historically Black Colleges and Universities ( HBCU ) Business Challenge designed to engage and attract black students seeking careers in business and technology .
The fourth annual HBCU Business Challenge will be held virtually and focus on distance learning , asking students for creative problem-solving around the challenges posed by the working and academic worlds shifting to a remote and digital environment .
The challenge provides students with access to executive leaders , real-world business knowledge and , ultimately , an onramp into an industry historically difficult for people of color to break into .
Furthermore , with one in 10 Americans not being able to find work in a challenging economic environment , this challenge gives students practical experience at a global corporation to help kickstart and grow their careers .
“ The HBCU Business Challenge is an integral part of our holistic partnership with the HBCUs and it embodies our commitment to provide talent with access , knowledge and opportunity .

‘ Smart Building ’ system demonstrates COVID back-to-work solution

California-based Vantiq has partnered with Bits In Glass , a software consulting firm , and Rigado , an enterprise Edge device network provider , to implement a new real-time workplace safety application , built using the Vantiq Back-to-Work Accelerator .

The ‘ smart building ’ solution demonstrates how businesses can manage critical events in real time , using automated systems and human responders to react swiftly and effectively to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 or other workplace health and safety issues .
Vantiq ’ s implementation integrates several real-time data sources and devices , including AI-enabled IP and thermal cameras , IoT sensors , real-time location data , edge sensors and several other technologies , allowing Vantiq to monitor its headquarters for symptom detection , physical distancing , contact tracing , access management , safety compliance and asset tracking .
The solution has been instrumental in allowing Vantiq employees to return safely to work at the company ’ s headquarters .
