Bold leadership elevates CIOs to the boardroom , according to Logicalis global study
from Logicalis , a global technology service provider . The study questioned 1000 technology leaders and explores how the role of the CIO is evolving . The 2023 survey , The Meteoric Rise of the CIO , demonstrates a monumental shift in the role of the CIO from tech implementor to business leader .
Tech leaders are actively involved in creating business strategy – 41 % have some level of responsibility for business strategy while 81 % say they are spending more time on innovation . They are using their technology expertise to deliver innovative solutions that drive value and competitive advantage .
Over three quarters ( 77 %) are now spending more time selling ideas to the board .
“ CIOs are playing a leading role in orchestrating transformation and are stepping up in response to the changing industry dynamics ,” said Bob Bailkoski , CEO at Logicalis .
CIOs have stepped into the role of digital evangelist and strategic advisor , according to the 2023 Global CIO Survey
“ Yet , CIOs are faced with challenges to navigate including a potential recession and talent shortages . In addition to this , they are experiencing increased pressure to deliver digital-based outcomes for their organizations , giving them more exposure to their boards and requiring a different way of operating .”
Biden-Harris administration awards Internet grant to university in Puerto Rico
The US Department of Commerce ’ s National
Telecommunications and Information Administration ( NTIA ) has awarded Universidad del Sagrado Corazón a US $ 2,978,187 grant from the Connecting Minority Communities Pilot Program ( CMC ).
“ Connected communities create empowered communities , fostering economic growth and well-being ,” said Don Graves , Deputy Secretary of Commerce . “ This grant will expand Universidad del Sagrado Corazón ’ s remote learning capacity and create new job and entrepreneurship opportunities .”
“ La Universidad del Sagrado Corazón plays a critical role in getting affordable , reliable , high-speed Internet service – and the tools to use it – to its students and the surrounding community ,” said Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information Alan Davidson . “ With this grant , the university will increase Internet service speeds and provide digital skills training to its students so they can fully access the benefits Internet service brings .”
NTIA plans to finish awarding all remaining funding available under the Connecting Minority Communities program in the first quarter of 2023 .
This grant will help fund Universidad del Sagrado Corazón ’ s ‘ Accessing Broadband Connectivity ( ABC ): A Pilot Project Catalyst in a Hispanic Institution and Communities Setting ’. The project aims to expand educational instruction and remote learning opportunities , spur economic development and create opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship by building the high-speed Internet and digital capacity at Sagrado . p
