The Gemini Project
In October 2024 , IHI Terrasun Solutions announced the completed commissioning of one of the largest renewable energy projects in North America .
The Gemini Solar + Storage ( Gemini ) project , located on Bureau of Land Management lands in Clark County , Nevada is operated by IHI Terrasun ’ s Assured Controls power plant software and will be serviced by the IHI Terrasun Field Engineering team for the next 25 years of operation .
With 690MWac of solar capacity and over 1,400MWh of co-located battery energy storage , Gemini will provide clean energy to the Nevada grid at a scale that can replace coal and natural gas electricity generation within one interconnection .
IHI Terrasun ’ s Assured Controls software will manage all aspects of the co-located facility , including battery energy storage system ( BESS ): DC-DC converters , inverters , batteries ; DCsided metering , solar generation , trackers , meteorological stations and capacity banks . It interfaces thousands of pieces of equipment across hundreds of power blocks and miles of network to allow Gemini to operate at peak efficiency . Assured Controls ’ solar forecasting technology predicts the solar panels ’ energy generation to give the utility visibility into optimal charging and discharging windows .

At its historic size , Gemini can perform grid forming functions as well as shift peak solar generation to times of high demand . It can stabilize the grid when frequency or voltage fluctuations occur .
Thanks to this size , Gemini creates an incredibly flexible and reliable renewable energy resource for Nevada electricity grid .
