EDITOR ’ S NOTE

Welcome to the latest edition of Intelligent CIO North America .

This month we lead on the collaboration between IHI Terrasun and VictoriaMetrics that ’ s driving one of North America ’ s largest clean energy projects .
The Gemini Solar + Storage project is designed to provide clean energy for up to 10 % of Nevada ’ s electricity needs during peak use times .
The project , situated on less than 5,000 acres , is designed to provide clean energy for up to 10 % of Nevada ’ s electricity needs during peak use times .
Larry Kane , SVP of Project and Product Engineering , IHI Terrasun , says VictoriaMetrics is an essential part of data management for the Gemini project and is the backbone of IHI Terrasun ’ s data collection and management system .
Traditional data handling systems were inadequate for Gemini due to their inability to scale with higher data demand , leaving the data science and data management teams at IHI Terrasun to seek a more advanced solution .
The lander – named Athena – will voyage to the lunar south pole region where LSCS will deploy .
Turn to p61 to read how the network is engineered to handle surface connectivity between the lander and accompanying vehicles , carrying high-definition video streaming , command-and-control communications and telemetry data as a “ network in a box .”
On p48 we focus on plans by IBM and the State of Illinois to build a National Quantum Algorithm Center in Chicago with universities and industries
Anchored by next-generation IBM Quantum System Two in Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park , the new initiative will advance useful quantum applications as industries move towards quantumcentric supercomputing .
In Get to Know on p79 , Joe Vaccaro , Vice President and General Manager , Cisco ThousandEyes , tells what time in tech has taught him so far .
Just a sample of what ’ s inside – enjoy the read .
Have an innovative month – make stuff happen .
See on p56 how the platform ’ s ability to handle massive datasets with ease has proved invaluable . Nokia and Intuitive Machines are ready to put a cellular network on the Moon with final integration of Nokia Lunar Surface Communication System ( LSCS ) into IM-2 mission lander completed .
