Nokia and KDDI Research partner to advance sustainable 6G networks

Nokia and KDDI Research have entered into a joint research agreement to accelerate the development of sustainable, intelligent, and resilient 6G networks. By combining KDDI’ s real network data and operational insights with Nokia Bell Labs’ advanced energy models and expertise in programmable network architectures, the partners aim to pioneer new approaches to energy efficiency and distributed core network design.

Signed in November 5, 2025, the agreement strengthens both organizations’ ability to shape 6G research and drive innovations toward real-world deployment. It builds on Nokia and KDDI’ s longstanding collaboration, leveraging KDDI Research’ s advanced communications R & D and Nokia Bell Labs’ leadership in telecommunications innovation.
The partnership focuses on two key 6G research areas:
• mMIMO Energy Efficiency: Techniques to reduce base-station energy use while enhancing communication performance for emerging 6G spectrum bands.
• Distributed Programmable Core Network Services: Technologies that ensure seamless connectivity during infrastructure failures and natural disasters.
Initial results in mMIMO energy efficiency were showcased at the Brooklyn 6G Summit.
Peter Vetter, President, Core Research, Bell Labs, said:“ Close industry collaboration is vital to making 6G more resilient, efficient, and intelligent.”
Satoshi Konishi, President and CEO, KDDI Research, said:“ Our partnership with Nokia Bell Labs will accelerate 6G R & D and strengthen our‘ Power to Connect.’”

LeapXpert and Iron Bow partner to deliver secure, compliant messaging for US government agencies

Business communication specialist LeapXpert has partnered with Iron Bow Technologies, a federal IT solutions provider, to deliver secure, compliant and modern messaging capabilities to US government agencies.

As agencies modernize collaboration, the challenge is adopting new tools while meeting strict security and compliance expectations. Communications on platforms such as Microsoft Teams, SMS and WhatsApp must satisfy federal mandates for protection, discoverability, and records retention.
The LeapXpert Communications Platform is pitched as addressing these requirements by enabling personnel to use modern messaging channels with full auditability, encryption and policy-based retention aligned with frameworks including NIST 800-53 and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification.
Through the partnership, Iron Bow will integrate and deliver LeapXpert’ s secure communication solutions to federal customers – expanding its portfolio of collaboration and cybersecurity offerings.
“ LeapXpert stood out because it solves one of the most urgent challenges in federal IT: enabling secure modern messaging without losing control or compliance,” said Rachel Murphy, General Manager for Federal Civilian Sales, Iron Bow.
“ The platform strengthens how agencies communicate while giving IT leaders confidence their data remains protected.”
Together, LeapXpert and Iron Bow say they aim to provide agencies with a path to digital engagement, combining LeapXpert’ s compliance-driven innovation with Iron Bow’ s federal expertise. p
“ Government agencies need the same communication flexibility as the private sector, but with greater accountability,” said Avi Pardo, Co-founder and CBO, LeapXpert.
“ Iron Bow is an ideal partner because of its role in federal IT modernization and its understanding of compliance-first needs.”
