Corning and Meta announce up to $ 6 billion agreement to expand US AI data center infrastructure

Corning Incorporated and Meta Platforms announced a multiyear agreement valued at up to $ 6 billion to accelerate construction of next generation data centers across the United States supporting Meta’ s apps technologies and artificial intelligence initiatives.

Under the agreement Corning will supply Meta with optical fiber cable and connectivity innovations designed to meet density scale and performance demands of AI infrastructure.
To support the collaboration Corning will expand manufacturing capacity across its North Carolina operations including a major expansion at its optical cable facility in Hickory where Meta will serve as the anchor customer.
The investment reinforces Corning’ s commitment to US manufacturing innovation and supply chain resilience.
Corning Chairman and CEO Wendell P. Weeks said the partnership reflects the company’ s focus on developing and producing critical data center technologies domestically. He noted the expansion will increase Corning’ s North Carolina workforce by an estimated 15 to 20 percent supporting more than 5,000 skilled employees including scientists, engineers and manufacturing teams.
Meta continues to deepen its commitment to building industry leading data centers in the US while sourcing advanced technologies made domestically. Meta Chief Global Affairs Officer Joel Kaplan said the collaboration will deliver high performance fiber optic connectivity essential for AI infrastructure while creating skilled jobs strengthening local economies and supporting U. S. leadership in the global AI race.
The agreement includes a multiyear commitment supply of next generation optical connectivity solutions and expanded production capacity in North Carolina. Together Corning and Meta aim to strengthen domestic manufacturing accelerate deployment and enable innovation.

Altair and LTTS launch 5G-6G Wireless Center of Excellence to accelerate telecom innovation

Altair and L & T Technology Services( LTTS) have launched a 5G-6G Wireless Center of Excellence( CoE) designed to accelerate next-generation telecommunications innovation across industries.

The CoE combines Altair’ s advanced design and simulation technologies with LTTS’ s deep domain expertise to unlock the full potential of 5G and emerging 6G networks.
Together, the companies aim to help organizations address connectivity disruptions, rising operational costs and slow innovation cycles in telecommunications, automotive, manufacturing and healthcare.
“ 5G and 6G technologies are reshaping how industries operate, innovate and deliver value,” said Stephanie Buckner, Chief Operating Officer, Altair.
“ Through this CoE, we are empowering organizations to harness wireless technologies to build smarter, faster and more efficient solutions.”
Alind Saxena, Executive Director and President, Mobility and Tech, LTTS, said the collaboration marks a transformative step in wireless advancement.
“ By combining cutting-edge simulation with engineering expertise, we are enabling industries to realize the full promise of 5G and 6G and build a more connected and intelligent world.”
The CoE will focus on 5G-6G network planning, 6G reflective intelligent surfaces and RF design, wireless enhancements for smart factories and connected vehicles, remote healthcare monitoring, automated manufacturing systems, digital twins of wireless networks and predictive network failure modeling.
These capabilities are powered by the Altair HyperWorks and Altair RapidMiner platforms. The CoE will also provide hands-on training, workshops and collaborative engagement models to accelerate adoption.
LTTS recently received the 2025 Altair Channel Partner Award for excellence in simulation, predictive analytics and digital twin innovation.
