IBM acquires Confluent to power real time data streaming for enterprise AI and automation

IBM has completed its acquisition of Confluent bringing real time data streaming to the core of enterprise AI and automation.

The combined platform delivers continuously updated data across on premises and hybrid cloud environments – enabling AI models agents and workflows to act on live information.
As organizations shift from experimentation to production they face fragmented data silos delayed pipelines and governance gaps. IBM and Confluent address this challenge with a unified data platform that streams events in real time with built in lineage policy enforcement and quality controls.
Built on Apache Kafka, the solution integrates with IBM watsonx. data, IBM MQ webMethods Hybrid Integration and IBM Z unlocking event driven automation and analytics at scale. With IBM’ s global reach and consulting expertise organizations can build AI systems that respond instantly improve decisions and scale securely.
Analysts note that future AI value depends on live governed data flowing continuously across the enterprise. This acquisition positions IBM to deliver a complete data in motion and data at rest strategy for modern AI adoption worldwide.
“ Transactions happen in milliseconds and AI decisions need to happen just as fast. With Confluent, we are giving clients the ability to move trusted data continuously across their entire operation so their AI models and agents can act on what is happening right now, not on data that is hours old,” said Rob Thomas, Senior Vice President, IBM Software and Chief Commercial Officer. www. intelligentcio. com
