M odern military operations depend on more than advanced aircraft, sophisticated weapons systems and highly trained personnel.
Managing that infrastructure has become increasingly challenging. Military fleets generate huge volumes of operational data while depending on legacy applications developed over decades.
The US Air Force’ s 441st Vehicle Support Chain Operations Squadron( VSCOS) is addressing these challenges by modernising management of its US $ 13.5 billion global vehicle fleet through Salesforce’ s Missionforce National Security platform.
The initiative represents more than a cloud migration. It demonstrates how Digital Transformation, AI-ready data architectures and interoperable applications are reshaping military logistics by replacing disconnected systems with unified operational platforms designed for faster decision-making.
From legacy systems to mission readiness
The 441st VSCOS manages more than 84,000 vehicles across nearly 389 locations worldwide, supporting over 7,300 personnel.
For years, these activities relied on ageing fleet management systems approaching the end of their useful life. Replacing those systems required careful planning because operations could not pause while new technology was introduced.
Rather than simply replacing an outdated application, the Air Force used the opportunity to redesign how vehicle management operates across its global network.
Missionforce National Security, deployed on Salesforce Government Cloud Plus Defense, created a single digital environment connecting applications, data and workflows.
