What do you think is the current hot technology talking point ?
I ’ m biased , but it has to be shared spectrum , both here in the US and internationally . Spectrum sharing is really the force multiplier for connectivity for enterprises with increasing data and latency demands . Private wireless is the conduit and platform for all of that .
How do you deal with stress and unwind outside the office ? limited to no fiber . Lack of community broadband access inhibits economic growth and makes it nearly impossible for students to use the Internet to study , complete homework , apply to colleges and so much more . Delivering connectivity to these parts of the country is our priority .
What changes to your job role have you seen in the last year and how do you see these developing in the next 12 months ?
I ’ m a runner . I love putting miles on my sneakers . My running time is my thinking time . I also love spending time with my two boys . They ’ re adults now , which is a joy to experience , and we remain close .
What do you currently identify as the major areas of investment in your industry ?
We ’ re seeing growing interest in investing in spectrum , which is costly , but more so in investing in private wireless networks , where Federated Wireless manages that spectrum access . The ownership of the network sits with the enterprise , but we maintain the network and the service level through our NOC . What are the region-specific challenges when implementing new technologies in North America ?
We focus a lot on rural and remote geographies in our business , those areas where mobile network operators ( MNOs ) don ’ t deliver cellular signal and where there ’ s
I went from leading our operations at Federated to overseeing our revenue generation as Chief Revenue Officer , a natural evolution of my role .
This role will continue to evolve as the challenges and use cases that our customers come to us with change and become more complex .
Already we are seeing our customers start with a small 5G innovation implementation that matures very quickly into an all-up 5G network .
What advice would you offer somebody aspiring to obtain a C-level position in your industry ?
Don ’ t make it about getting to the C-suite , make it about stellar delivery for your customers . Be handson with your projects so that you have 360 degrees of respect , from the executive level to the direct reporting level . This is also how you keep your tools sharp and continue to hone and forge the skills that will enable that growth trajectory . The quickest path to staying flat in your career is to not play up-field and down-field .
People work hard for people who work hard – those who lead from the trenches succeed in the battle . p
