North York General becomes first hospital in Canada to migrate EHR to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Duska Kennedy, NYGH Vice President, Strategy and Digital Health, Chief Digital Officer, said:“ By moving our EHR infrastructure to the cloud, NYGH is embracing the most advanced global standard for managing critical health information. This move will deliver enhanced security for patient data and highly scalable storage, which is critical as we innovate with advanced analytics and AI to better serve our patients and staff.”

Toronto’ s North York General Hospital

( NYGH) has improved the performance and usability of its Oracle Health Foundation electronic health record( EHR) by migrating it to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure( OCI).
With OCI, NYGH reports that it has been able to improve the performance of its EHR and decrease the amount of time health professionals spend waiting for information by significantly reducing system latency. In addition, OCI’ s built-in disaster recovery and failover capabilities have helped NYGH keep its EHR available when needed.
With OCI, NYGH can enable a more agile approach to adopting new technologies like GenAI.
Following its migration to OCI in March 2025, NYGH reports positive results across the hospital in faster screen loads and transaction response times. This includes decreasing the response time for all transactions made in the EHR by 26 % and reducing the average login response time for all users by 40 %.
The performance gains also enable more comprehensive and real-time updates to the patient record – strengthening communication and care coordination across all caregivers to enhance patient care.

Fairbanks Emergency Communications Center strengthens response reliability across remote communities

Fairbanks Emergency Communications Center, Alaska, is now live on CentralSquare’ s ONESolution cloud platform – ensuring greater public safety resiliency in one of the most remote and challenging environments in the country.

Fairbanks has used CentralSquare’ s ONESolution for over a decade to support dispatch across 22 emergency response agencies.
Covering an area the size of Maine but with far less infrastructure, the Fairbanks team recognized that traditional on-premises solutions couldn’ t withstand Alaska’ s unique communication challenges, something proven last year when an earthquake knocked out their systems for four hours.
“ We’ re not just responsible for our own agencies, we support two other dispatch centers that rely on our CAD to protect their communities. If we go down, they go down too,” said Kristi Merideth, Dispatch Manager, Fairbanks.
“ Moving to the cloud gives us the confidence we need to support everyone who relies on us.”
In addition to the 22 emergency response agencies Fairbanks oversees dispatch for, they also support sister dispatch centers like Fort Wainwright and the University of Alaska Police Department. Both rely on Fairbanks’ CAD system but operate independently, making system uptime critical for the entire region.
“ Fairbanks is a great example of how CentralSquare’ s cloud technology can transform emergency response, not just for one agency, but for a region,” said Ashya Comes, Cloud Director of Product Management, CentralSquare Technologies.“ We believe our solution will ensure continuity and resilience in even the most remote environments.”
