( NSF) has launched Project Triad, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to integrate quantum sensing, quantum networking and quantum computing into a single operational system for realworld applications.
The program aims to move quantum technology beyond laboratory research by creating practical solutions for healthcare, energy, manufacturing, public safety and national security.
NSF says the initiative will provide the scientific foundation needed to refine, scale and commercialize integrated quantum systems through partnerships with US industry, strengthening economic competitiveness and creating high-skilled jobs.
Quantum technologies harness properties such as entanglement and superposition, enabling sensors to detect unprecedented levels of detail while allowing computers to solve highly complex problems. Integrating sensing, networking and computing could support GPS-independent

navigation, secure communications, advanced medical imaging, personalized treatments and more efficient detection of underground natural resources.
Project Triad brings together government, academia and industry through three interconnected programs. The NSF National Quantum Virtual Laboratory will develop proof-of-concept integrated quantum systems for testing and experimentation. NSF X-Labs will support milestone-based research focused on technologies including photonics and quantum interconnects, while NSF Quantum + X will collaborate with industry to identify commercial applications across sectors such as energy, finance, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
The initiative also builds on NSF’ s existing quantum research network, including specialized institutes, engineering centers and national infrastructure. By combining research, workforce development and commercialization, Project Triad aims to accelerate the transition of quantum innovation from the laboratory to practical deployment across the United States.

Voyager completes Astrobotic acquisition as NASA awards $ 298M lunar lander contract

Voyager Technologies has completed its acquisition of Astrobotic Technology, marking a major milestone as the company expands its position as a fully integrated commercial lunar platform.

The announcement follows NASA’ s award of two new lunar lander missions and the shipment of Griffin Mission One to NASA’ s Jet Propulsion Laboratory for environmental testing ahead of launch later this year.
Voyager Chairman and CEO Dylan Taylor said the acquisition strengthens the company’ s role in supporting America’ s long-term presence on the Moon as NASA accelerates lunar exploration.
NASA recently awarded Voyager a task order valued at approximately $ 298 million under the Commercial Lunar Payload Services framework.
The contract was not included when Voyager revealed plans to acquire Astrobotic – highlighting the strategic timing of the deal.
Under the award, Peregrine-2 is scheduled to launch in 2028, delivering three NASA payloads to the Gruithuisen Domes. The mission will study the lunar radiation environment, analyze engine plume interactions during landing and establish a long-term navigational reference point for future spacecraft, supporting NASA’ s Artemis campaign.
The contract builds on Griffin Mission One, which is advancing toward launch no earlier than November 2026. The mission will transport 10 payloads from NASA, the European Space Agency and commercial customers to the lunar South Pole.
Astrobotic now operates as Voyager Lunar Systems, headquartered at the Moon Base facility in Pittsburgh.
