Why Wi-Fi 7 matters
Wi-Fi 7 delivers greater throughput, lower latency and improved performance in crowded environments. Combined with advanced antenna technology and AIpowered network management, it enables sports venues to support tens of thousands of simultaneous connections while maintaining consistent user experiences across every section of the stadium.
By combining next-generation Wi-Fi, intelligent network management and innovative antenna technology, the Tennessee Titans aimed to establish a future-ready digital foundation capable of supporting evolving fan expectations and increasingly connected live entertainment experiences. The investment also demonstrated how professional sports organisations are viewing advanced connectivity as essential infrastructure that supports both operational excellence and long-term commercial growth while enhancing every aspect of the visitor experience for years to come.
He said the network would support every aspect of the stadium experience for visitors, employees and operational teams while helping the venue host some of the world ' s biggest sporting and entertainment events. He added that the wireless platform would become the digital foundation supporting future innovations as expectations for connected venues continued to increase.
The deployment also included Extreme Network Fabric, designed to simplify operations through self-healing rerouting, policy-based management and automated network scaling.
These capabilities would allow the network to adapt quickly to changing demand, whether during regular season NFL games or major international events such as Super Bowl LXIV.
Extreme Platform ONE would provide centralised network management through a single interface, giving operators access to real-time analytics, AI-driven capabilities and end-to-end visibility across the stadium ' s infrastructure. The platform was designed to help identify issues rapidly, improve operational efficiency and optimise the performance of connected services throughout the venue.
Beyond enhancing fan connectivity, the deployment created a scalable platform for future digital services, including evolving mobile applications, operational automation and emerging in-venue experiences. The flexible architecture was intended to accommodate technological advances without requiring significant infrastructure redesign, protecting long-term investment while supporting innovation.
Venue operators would also gain improved insight into network usage, application performance and connected devices, enabling them to make informed operational decisions before, during and after events while maintaining consistent service quality across the entire stadium.
The project further strengthened Extreme Networks ' presence across the National Football League. Following the Titans deployment, the company provided Wi-Fi infrastructure for 12 NFL teams and stadiums, supporting high-density connectivity, mobile applications and enhanced digital fan experiences.
Extreme also reported that 30 NFL teams had adopted ExtremeCloud Business Insights, which analyses stadium Wi-Fi data to better understand fan behaviour, application usage and engagement patterns. Teams use these insights to improve game-day experiences, personalise services and support operational decision-making.
The growing adoption of connected technologies across professional sport reflected wider changes in spectator expectations. Modern fans increasingly relied on mobile ticketing, digital concessions, cashless payments, live statistics, instant replay, fantasy sports applications and social media engagement throughout events, placing unprecedented demands on wireless infrastructure. •
