The New York project forms the cornerstone of Micron’ s wider US investment strategy. The company is also making rapid progress in Idaho, where first wafer output is expected in midcalendar 2027 for the first fab and late calendar 2028 for the second.
Earlier in 2026, in Virginia, Micron launched initial production of its 1a( 1-alpha) DDR4 technology, supporting customers with long lifecycle requirements across the automotive, industrial, medical, aerospace and defence sectors.
Together, these projects are expected to create more than 90,000 jobs while supporting broader US economic and national security objectives. Micron has said it will continue taking a disciplined approach to investment while aligning manufacturing capacity with evolving market demand.
